Valiant TMS, a global industry leader, is looking for a motivated and hands-on
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to support our heavy fabrication and machining team at Valco Manufacturing Inc. This temporary role will play a key part in strengthening safety awareness, improving communication of safety procedures, and increasing employee engagement on the plant floor.
Reporting to the Health & Safety team and working closely with key stakeholders, the successful candidate will help drive practical safety initiatives while gaining valuable experience in a manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Get To Do
- Support the development and implementation of health and safety initiatives and programs.
- Assist with the creation, organization, and maintenance of safety documentation within SAP.
- Convert existing Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) into highly visible, user-friendly formats for use throughout the facility.
- Post and maintain safety information, procedures, and visual standards throughout the plant.
- Develop and help facilitate Near Miss reporting and awareness training.
- Conduct routine plant-floor observations and “fresh eyes” safety audits to identify hazards, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Engage with employees and supervisors to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities as required.
- Participate in workplace inspections and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other health, safety, and environmental-related projects as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- The ideal candidate is someone who is proactive, approachable, and passionate about creating safer workplaces. They enjoy being on the plant floor, building relationships with employees, identifying improvement opportunities, and helping turn safety procedures into practical day-to-day habits.
- Education: Diploma, certificate, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous HSE experience in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation and workplace safety best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Experience creating training materials, procedures, visual work instructions, or safety communications is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with SAP is an asset.
- Comfortable spending significant time on the shop floor interacting with employees.
The expected hourly compensation for this position is $25.00 – $30.00. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skill set, or location. This posting is for new 3–6-month full-time contract position. Valiant TMS does not require Canadian work experience and does not use artificial intelligence (AI) to screen or assess applicants.
