What a study covers
Traffic calming considers a group of streets in a defined neighbourhood. Its purpose is to address recorded traffic problems and improve walking conditions. Staff review speed and volume before surveying nearby properties.
Contact 311 or 311@citywindsor.ca to begin a service request. The city says the volume of requests can mean a response takes up to one year.
Neighbourhood support
After the traffic review, a one-block area around the concern is surveyed. At least 25% of dwelling units and commercial properties in that area must support the request for it to move ahead in the review process. This is a screening condition, not construction approval.
Read project status carefully
The city’s project list was last marked updated October 7, 2025. It identifies Kildare Avenue between Richmond and Ottawa as approved and awaiting construction. Installed speed humps are listed separately. These are dated project records, not a promise that construction status remains unchanged in 2026.
The city links its Traffic Calming Policy, speed-hump brochure, survey results and FAQ. Use the policy link for the complete evaluation process. Transportation Services is at 1266 McDougall Street, with weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.
